English Language Test Accepted by INZ

International students planning to apply for higher education in New Zealand must apply for an offer from an education provider. Also, it is mandatory to meet the minimum English language requirements.

If the approved entry requirements for a particular program are higher than those listed in Rule 18, then it is essential to meet the level specified by the provider. Providers may use a high range of evidence to verify the student's English language proficiency.

The New Zealand Qualification Association includes a table of English language proficiency tests for international students. Students applying for program levels 9-10, including Master's and Doctoral degrees, need to score 6.5 on the IELTS or equivalent tests.
