Sometimes, New Zealand falls short of talent in some fields and then searches for migrant workers. If your company also needs some talented workers outside New Zealand due to the same problem, then better obtain an employer accreditation. It will make you officially recognized by the higher authorities in New Zealand for employing migrant workers.
What is an Employer Accredited Work Visa?
The Government of New Zealand has made it compulsory for employers in the country to obtain an accreditation for hiring workers from offshore countries. It ensures that all the standards are met, thus committing to minimizing the exploitation rate.
According to the terms and conditions of this accreditation, migrant workers can be easily hired under the new category of visa only by registered and accredited employers. There are mainly two different levels of employer accreditation that are:
Standard accreditation – The standard accreditation is meant for employers who desire to hire of maximum five employers in a single chance.
High volume accreditation – As clear by the name, a high volume accreditation is meant for employers that desire to hire a high number of migrants at a time.
Is Job Checking a Mandatory Step?
Once successfully done with obtaining the accredited employer work visa, detailed job checking takes place against which migrant labor will be hired for. The hiring of migrant workers will be possible only if the step of job checking has been completed successfully.
The following aspects are covered during a job check:
Confirmation about the market rate that is paid by the job
Compliance of terms and conditions with that of the employment laws of New Zealand
Conducting labor market test
At the time of hiring a migrant worker, the character and overall health condition are checked in detail. Verification of skills and required work experience also takes place to confirm the employment of the individual.
A job check that has been approved will comprise validation of a maximum of six months or till the lapsing period of the accreditation of the employer.
