Due to closed borders during the pandemic, some visa categories were suspended by the NZ Government, resulting in massive labor shortage. To address the shortage of skilled laboure , the Government decided to open two different visa categories that will let migrants to become residents.
According to Immigration Minister Michael Wood, the reopening of Skilled Migrant Category and Parents Residence category visas was announced. Selections of Expression of Interest will also resume by the end of 2022. The changes will incorporate the Green List, which provides several pathways to residence in New Zealand.
